Prerequisite Knowledge: Oakland County- Public Schools and Public School Academies/Charter Schools Only.  Must have access to an internet connection, email, and fax; Must be able to make a time commitment to complete reading, assignments, reflections, and tasks on a weekly basis.

Audience: Oakland County LEA & PSA Only, Special Education Teachers, Administrators, Psychologists, Speech/Language Pathologists, Teacher Consultants, Title 1

Participants can choose between SCECH credit or Madonna University credits. The cost for Madonna University Credit is $150.00 per credit hour.

Event Description:

This web-based learning series will provide introductory knowledge of the foundational skills for reading, including phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. Participants will learn the research behind each big idea, the scope and sequence of instruction for each big idea, and strategies for each big idea. Participants will be provided opportunities to learn from reading, video, reflection, and web-based support. This course uses the Teaching Reading Sourcebook: 2nd Edition (CORE) and Assessing Reading: Multiple Measures texts, which Oakland Schools will ship to the participant. Upon completion, participants are eligible to register for one of the Reading Strategies Learning Labs.

Note-Due to funding guidelines, this training is dedicated to Oakland County Public School and PSA/Charter School employees.

Note: SCECH's are awarded to eligible participants after 10/30/2015.
