Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework to improve and optimize teaching and learning for all people based on scientific insights into how humans learn. (CAST) If you attended one of the "UDL Foundations" events at Oakland Schools, you received a copy of Katie Novak’s book "UDL Now" and you are now invited to participate in a virtual book study! Even if you didn’t attend "UDL Foundations," or don’t yet have the book, you too are invited to participate in the book study and we will even provide you with a copy of the book! (Learn more about the book via this link: http://bit.ly/UDL-Now) The book study will launch on Tuesday, February 9 and will run from 4 pm - 4:45 pm. It will take place in the PLN4UDL Google Hangout. (Don’t worry! It is very easy to get into a Hangout. All you need is a Google login and the link we will provide.) The February 9 session will be an overview of the book study and the protocol that will be used at the future meetings. The rest of the planned schedule for meeting is below:
• Tuesday, February 23 - 4 pm - 4:45 pm: Chapters 1 and 2
• Tuesday, March 8 - 4 pm - 4:45 pm: Chapters 3 and 4
• Tuesday, March 22 - 4 pm - 4:45 pm: Chapters 5 and 6
• Tuesday, April 5 - 4 pm - 4:45 pm: Chapters 7 and 8
• Tuesday, April 19 - 4 pm - 4:45 pm: Chapter 9 and wrap up
This book study will provide you with the opportunity to explore UDL in more depth no matter where you are on your UDL journey. Please plan to join us and other UDL practitioners from around Oakland County as we explore UDL implementation and learn together!
