This session focuses on the essential elements of a Full and Individual Evaluation for Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) Eligibility Determination required by IDEA 2004. Both SLD options, a Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses and RTI will be viewed within an instructionally relevant manner consistent with the principles of RTI as defined by IDEA, the MDE SLD Criteria and the MARSE. Participants will learn how to incorporate a variety of assessment tools and strategies which yield measurable and observable data which may be used to make eligibility decisions and define Present Levels and Goals. If not taken previously, it is recommended that this course be taken in tandem with its companion course, Core Principles of Academic Assessment for RTI, which is also being offered on September 20, 2011 and January 5, 2012.
