Reading in the world language classroom is a process not an event. The Interpretive Communication Standard of the Michigan World Language Standards requires students to read for comprehension at increasingly higher levels of proficiency.
This workshop is designed to:
• Explore the reading as a process
• Identify appropriate levels of reading selections/texts
• Identify strategies to activate prior knowledge
• Develop exercises and activities to use before, during and after reading
• Provide hands-on practice to improve your teaching of reading
In addition to six one-hour synchronous virtual sessions, participants should expect to complete 3 hours of asynchronous assignments in Moodle.
Registration deadline: January 16, 2015
