AARI Book Information

Oakland Schools has selected new books for Adolescent Accelerated Reading Initiative (AARI). These books offer a variety of content topics and complex structures. We are excited of the new possibilities with this opportunity. If your district already has AARI books for you to use, you MUST bring one copy of each title to the Institute with you. However, it is highly recommended that you purchase the new set of books to enhance your library.

Which book set is right for me?

  • Books in Set A would be ideal for an elementary classroom with students reading 2 or 3 levels below their current grade reading level.
  • Books in Set B would be better suited to a middle or high school classroom with students reading 2 or 3 levels below their current grade reading level.

You might consider buying both Sets if you have a group of struggling readers that are reading 4 or 5 levels below their current grade reading level. These new sets of books are more in depth and text dense than our previous books, so keep in mind that it will probably take you longer to get through one title.
