Event Description:

This course is designed to meet the needs of newer school social workers, and those that would like to refine their skills. School social workers will leave this series with: a strong foundation in the basics of the profession, a tool box of evidenced based engagement and resiliency philosophies/ activities, an opportunity to receive timely professional consultation, and a support network. Each meeting will feature an engaging activity based on experiential learning and cultures of thinking, followed by an in-depth discussion on the featured topic. Time for group problem solving and sharing will be built into every meeting. Topics include: team problem-solving, finding evidenced based practices, considerations in conducting special education assessments, goal writing and progress monitoring. (Participants should expect about an hour’s worth of "research" between meetings.) Please complete the survey located at www.tinyurl.com/OSSSW101Fall15  prior to the first meeting. Note: SW-CEH's are awarded after the last day of the series.
