Event Description:

A growing number of students form diverse racial, cultural and linguistic backgrounds have unique learning needs as they acquire school English and adapt to the culture of the American educational system. Identifying and placing culturally and linguistically diverse students in special education is a challenging issue in all Oakland County schools. This workshop is designed for educators who are new to evaluating or working with students who are culturally and linguistically diverse. This foundational workshop will highlight specific issues and screening strategies that are most effective in separating difference from disability especially in the context of response to intervention and instruction.
