Event Description:

Registration will open on September 1, 2015.

CoT Design Studios are for teachers promoting a culture of thinking in their classrooms to work on instructional designs in the company of immediate colleagues AND colleagues form other school districts. Design Studios is a response to teachers' calls for more time to think; that is, more time to talk with their colleagues/grade level partners about intentionally designing instruction that values, makes visible, and actively promotes thinking. They say: "my design work seems left to chance and I tend to go back to what I have always done...I am trying to connect CoT with my CCSS...I need a true workshop."

NEW this year, CoT Oakland! will host a Gallery Walk and Strolling Dinner to celebrate and share the thinking and learning that is happening across the county. This event is open to ALL and is a wonderful way to share how our county is becoming a culture of thinking for all learners. Join us in the atrium of Oakland Schools where teachers will serve as docents to artifacts of students' thinking in their classroom. Enjoy a strolling dinner as you talk with teachers about how they are shaping and leveraging the cultural forces in their classrooms to ensure that all students' thinking is valued, made visible, and actively promoted!

If you would like to participate as a docent in a Gallery Walk, posting and describing your students' thinking, please contact Lauren Childs at lauren.childs@oakland.k12.mi.us or 248.209.2273. RSVP by October 15th.
