Prerequisite Knowledge: 1) Please review Jennifer’s 6-minute video on Phonological Complexity Principles (http://slpath.com/phonologicalprinciples.php) PRIOR TO attending. Jennifer will spend less time on assessment principles and more on target selection and intervention methodologies. 2) Please note that handouts for this workshop will be electronic and emailed to participants prior to the session.

Audience: Speech-Language Pathologists working with Kindergarten-12th grade with students with speech and sound disorders

Event Description:

Continue the learning that began last fall about recent advances in the evidence-base supporting intervention for students with phonological and articulation disorders. This foundational session will cover evidence-based motor-learning and complexity approach principles that guide treatment goal selection, intervention strategies, and progress monitoring practices for speech sound disorders in schools. Intervention strategies targeting /r/, lateral /s/, and home practice approaches that expedite students’ progress will be covered. Content is appropriate for past as well as new learners of Jennifer Taps Richard.

Follow-up support is planned! Join us for two follow-up opportunities to support this foundational session:

• 10/7/16 (12:30-4:00pm) Elementary Make and Take + Virtual Q&A with Jennifer at Oakland Schools.

• 11/18/16 (11:30-12:30pm) Lunchtime Virtual Q&A with Jennifer in your own school building.

Due to funding guidelines, 114 seats are available for Oakland County Public School and PSA Employees at the cost of $15.00 per participants. There are 6 seats available for Private Schools, Agencies and Out of County participants at the cost of $60.00 per participant.
