Oakland Schools, in collaboration with the USC Shoah Foundation – The Institute for Visual History and Education, Wayne RESA and Macomb ISD, is pleased to announce a summer IWitness Institute. During this three-day intensive professional development opportunity program, participants will:
• Learn to use testimony available in IWitness, a free educational website that offers students over 1500 video life histories from those who witnessed history
• Learn how testimony can be used as a primary source to humanize and deepen understanding of twentieth century history
• Learn to use testimony to address core academic standards and multiple literacy skills
• Engage in curriculum planning with colleagues and leave the workshop with specific plans for implementation.
