Event Description:

Identifying and placing culturally and linguistically diverse students in special education is a challenging issue in all Oakland County schools. This workshop is designed for teams of ESL and Special Education professionals who want to develop a district protocol detailing procedures used when an English learner is having learning difficulties. This workshop will extend and build on the foundational learning from the May 8th, 2015 workshop "Special Education Evaluations of English Learners" as well as the October 9th, 2015 workshop "Separating Difference from Disability: A Focus on ELs". Attendance as a multidisciplinary school or district team is strongly encouraged since considerable time will be dedicated to guided team action planning and protocol development.
