Conference Highlights:

  • Breakout sessions will provide proven strategies that prepare today’s students for tomorrow’s college and careers, and include models of innovation, examples of successful partnerships and strategies for improved student outcomes.

Helpful hints and friendly reminders . . .

Follow these helpful hints to ensure successful registration for this year’s conference.

  • Conference registration deadline is midnight, Friday, April 14.
  • Register early as the conference may reach capacity before this date.
  • Email confirmation from Oakland Schools Event Management Services will indicate your registration is complete. Contact emregistration@oakland.k12.mi.us if you have not received confirmation. Bring your confirmation to the conference as it will help if there are questions regarding your registration.
  • Hotel Reservations: Call 1-800-862-6963 to make your hotel reservation by  April 2, 2017 and receive special conference pricing of $122/night plus a resort fee and taxes. Ask for the Michigan Occupation Special Populations Association rate.
  • Be aware that Boyne Mountain Resort will charge credit cards for the first night when you make your reservation.
  • To avoid on-site confusion, reserve both your hotel room and conference registration.
  • Conference registration cancellation requests must be submitted by email to emregistration@oakland.k12.mi.us by April 19, 2017 to be eligible for refund. Requests meeting this requirement will be processed less an administrative fee of $10.00. The Oakland Schools registration refund policy does not apply to this event.
  • Please bring a door prize for each person attending the conference from your organization. During the conference wrap-up, door prizes will be given to the lucky winners. Popular door prizes have included items made by students in occupational programs or items purchased especially for this occasion.

The purpose of MOSPA is to inform members of the requirements of the Perkins Legislation and assist in its implementation at the local level to ensure that the needs of the special population student are well served at the secondary and postsecondary levels. In addition, a goal of the organization and the state conference is to enhance the professional development of educators and paraprofessionals working with special population students. http://www.mospaonline.org/
