Deepen your understanding. Grow your toolbox. Educators work with ALL students to teach writing to emerging, struggling and/or skilled writers. Dr. Janet Sturm and Dr. Gary Troia bring research on writing development, instructional practices and assessment across the age span, to all teachers of writing. Content also includes effective and practical strategies, specialized instruction for intervention and core instruction for students with IEPs. PLEASE NOTE: Attendance for both "Basic" sessions is required, August 22-23, 2017. Participants choose 1-2 "Beyond" session(s) based on student needs.
Beyond Sessions:
September 27, 2017: Dr. Sturm returns with in-depth information on instructional frameworks, strategies, assessment tools, and assistive technologies for beginning writers and students who take alternate assessments, K-12.
October 19, 2017: Dr. Troia returns with in-depth information and practical application of Self-Regulated Strategy Development to accelerate growth for struggling writers, grades 3-12.
Stipend is available for active Oakland County Public School Educators who attend this learning opportunity.
