Event Description:

Registration is available for active Oakland County Public School and PSA Educators only.

Oakland Schools is proud to continue growing the OS PLN4UDL virtual ecosystem and further establish a larger statewide and national collaborative with the Universal Design for Learning Regional event. This large event shares sponsorship and development with the UDL-IRN organization and with Macomb Intermediate School District with invited guests from all over the state and nation. The event is an intense, comprehensive immersion into the principles and philosophy of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). UDL is a powerful framework based on neuroscience and learning design that empowers learners with agency, designs for the variability found in all classrooms, and addresses the needs of accessible curriculum. Participants will benefit from unique learning from top national leaders, direct coaching opportunities from local practitioners, tons of breakout sessions, and dedicated team time for design and dialogue with colleagues.

The event will focus on Universal Design for Learning foundations, system implementation , and classroom practice.

Participant outcomes:

Learn the fundamental pieces that comprise Universal Design for Learning and its implications for redesigning educational environments

Explore UDL as an instructional design framework

Explore UDL's connections to ESSA, the National Tech Plan, and specialty programs

Explore UDL as it pertains to reframing least restrictive environments

Learn UDL's framework as it addresses equity for all students and Culturally Relevant Training

Grow and Network participants professional learning communities

Explore the design process for scaling up implementation.
