Google Classroom was designed with the goal of saving teachers and students time by organizing assignments and class content in one, easy-to-access, online space. If you have been waiting to get started with Google Classroom, wait no longer! This workshop series will consist of two face-to-face sessions facilitated by Laura Cummings, Digital Learning Consultant for Oakland Schools, and Chip McDonald, 5th Grade Teacher for Novi Community Schools. In Session 1, being held on November 3, 2017, you will be guided through the ins and outs of setting up Google Classroom(s). Demonstrations will be followed with hands-on time for you to act on the information and set up your classes, prepare assignments, enroll students, and more. Session 2, being held on January 30, 2018, will focus on additional features of Google Classroom including Google Calendar integration, team teaching classes, the "share to Classroom" Chrome extension and more! We will also provide you with more design time for your virtual Google Classroom(s). In addition to the face–to–face sessions, a virtual space will be set up to provide you with a place to ask questions, share practice, etc. We will have laptops available, but please bring your own Chromebook/laptop if you can.
For registration go to the Oakland Schools website and click on Professional Learning. Up to $75 in substitute reimbursement is available for educators teaching in an Oakland County public school. Lunch will be provided on both days.
10 SCECH credits available if you attend both sessions.
