Event Description:

What should every student know about the Constitution to navigate the world around them? Designed for civics and history teachers, this session focuses on teaching one of our most cherished and seminal documents. Using materials from the MC3 Project/Atlas/MAISA, participants will explore U.S. history from the Articles of Confederation through the ratification of the Constitution and adoption of the Bill of Rights. Join us as we share best practices for teaching the Constitution and tackle several instructional problems teachers routinely encounter with this content. Through the use of inquiry, we will demonstrate how to scaffold questions to deepen student learning and embed historical thinking and literacy skills in instruction. Prepare yourself to help students investigate past accounts and analyze current events in light of our constitutional design.
