Event Description:

Creating a classroom worth investing in is a challenge every teacher faces. Building relationships; creating an inclusive community and developing consistent, learner- friendly routines help teachers engage reluctant learners and provide least restive environments for our most (and least) vulnerable students. We will explore the concepts of motivation and engagement, considering how educators might create ideal conditions. We will use The Motivating Reluctant Learners Book along with key elements from Parker Palmer, Restorative Practices, PBIS and UDL to help teachers create learner-centered environments where they are empowered to enliven the desire to learn and create for all students. Participants will leave with a solid plan for improvement. (2 day event)

Due to funding guidelines, 27 seats are available for active Oakland County Public Schools Educators and PSA employees for $30. There are 3 seats available for participants from Oakland County Private Schools and Agencies and out-of-county participants at a cost of $50 per participant.
