Event Description:

Participants of this series will learn how logic models can be used to engage teams in an authentic program evaluation process that answers their own important questions and informs decisions about when and how to course correct. Over the four-day series, teams will create a visual map (logic model) showing how their programs are intended to work and then use their maps to guide the collection of evidence for program monitoring and evaluation. Through the lenses of their own programs, teams will deepen understanding of how to use both qualitative and quantitative sources of evidence to find patterns in their local data that inform decision-making and program planning. Time will be provided for teams to record what they have learned about their programs and the decisions they have made about adjustments needed for 2020-21 into the MDE Program Evaluation Tool (PET), which is due in ASSIST on June 30, 2020).

A review of federal and state expectations for program planning and evaluation will also be provided, including the shifts under the Every Student Succeeds Act from a focus on compliance to performance. Sample logic models, as well as tools and resources to support program design/evaluation, will also be shared.

* NOTE: Facilitators will work with teams to schedule an alternate 4th day at OS or in district, should they have scheduling conflicts due to their district's state assessment schedule.
