In partnership with teachers, paraeducators play a pivotal role in the education of our students. It is essential, to be an effective partner, that paras have access to appropriate information and tools that best support our students. In this workshop, paraeducators will be exposed to current best practice strategies and methodologies in the area of literacy. Foundational aspects of a comprehensive literacy approach will be shared, with a focus on how to engage students so that learning can take place. Emergent and conventional strategies will be presented such as shared and guided reading, writing, predictable chart writing and word work activities to mention a few. Paraeducators will be able to return to their classrooms and immediately implement these strategies with their students
Stipends are available to participants attending on their own time.
